In The Beginning

Club Car was founded in 1958 in Augusta, Georgia, by Bill Stevens. Stevens had purchased the Landreath Machine Company from its owners in Houston, Texas, and changed it into Club Car, where he began to manufacture golf carts. The company’s first golf cart with a steering wheel came out in 1960, and in 1962, Bill and his son drove a Club Car golf cart from Augusta to Dunedin, Florida, for the PGA show, which impressed attendees.

Expansion

In the 1980s, Club Car began to manufacture utility vehicles designed for more rugged terrain, which initially were based on their golf cart designs. Their popular Carryall® series continued into the new millennium and was even reintroduced in 2014 as a more efficient vehicle with a higher hauling capacity.
